H2 production pricing is calculated automatically based on the facility technology type. SMR facilities use utilization-based pricing (power law: 30% util = $9/kg, 80% util = $5/kg). Electrolysis facilities use CAPEX-based pricing. For mixed deployments, pricing is blended by capacity.
Electrolysis Production Parameters
Cost = (annualized CAPEX / demand) + electricity cost. Each kg H2 requires 55 kWh.
LCOH vs Utilization (2025 CAPEX)
Shows cost for a 10 t/day facility commissioned in 2025, at different utilization levels.
Provides $3/kg subsidy for hydrogen produced by electrolysis facilities that commission between 2026 and 2031. Facilities commissioned outside this window are not eligible.
Electrolyzer LCOH by Year of Commissioning
Cost for a new 10 t/day facility commissioned in each year (grid: 24 h/day, 60% utilization assumed for CAPEX component), as electrolyzer CAPEX falls with global manufacturing scale-up (capacity data: 2022: 12 GW → 2025: 58 GW → 2030: 180 GW). Carbon intensity (CI) accounted towards LCFS is determined by the California Air Resources Board. Energy Efficiency Index (EEI) for hydrogen compared to diesel is 1.9, and hydrogen CI will be divided by this value when calculating LCFS credits.
Uses a fixed LCFS credit price of $60/credit (default from configuration) for all years.
